  • 1962 - Mid-day-meal program started by some states.

  • 1970 - The special nutrition program started, the borders of this program were expanded by providing supportive nutrition to the small infants, pregnant women and feminine mothers of the rural, backward and small urban areas.

  • 1974 - Mid-day-mile program becomes part of the minimum requirement.

  • 1975 - ICDS was started by the Indian Government on 2 October 1975 in a small form which comprised only 33 blocks including three projects in Uttar Pradesh.

  • 1990 - By accepting 106 million US dollars from the World Bank, the program was included for the ICDS-1 project, which was incorporating Andhra Pradesh and Orissa.

  • 1993 - World Bank, without converting the objective, changed its goals according to the requirement of each state and invested 194 million US Dollar as well as Madhya Pradesh and Bihar.

  • 1995 - The program involved 3663 blocks and was in reach of 3.8 million needy and female mothers.

  • 1997 - World Bank assisted in three programs of ICDS operating in the state.

  • 1999 - Kishori Shakti Yojana started in the state.

  • 2009 - Prime Minister Gramodaya Yojana and 187 new Child Development Programs commenced and the total number of projects in the state reached 895.

  • 2002 - National Nutritional Mission started in the state.

  • 2003 - 21 Other new child development programs started and 106111 Aanganbadi center along with the number of projects in the state reached 835.

  • 2004 - Anganwadi activists and supporters of Honorarium increased by Rs 200 and Rs 100 respectively.

  • 2005 - 32188 new Anganwadi centers were made in the state, which increased the number of total number of Aanganbadi centers to 138299.

  • 2006 - 07, 13170 new Anganwadi centers were received from the Government of India. Thus, the total sanction of Anganwadi centers is 151469.

  • 2020 - The Total sanction of Anganwadi centers is 189789.
